I remember when I were younger, sitting in front of the TV eating popcorn, drinking Coca Cola and of course playing video-games. The game series I’ve wasted the most time on, is without a doubt Super Mario Bros. So like any other fan, I’ve also played Super Mario Bros on NES and SNES on my computer more than once. Anywho! getting to the point, what if you could play awesome games like Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Turtles(yea baby!) and a bunch of other classics when you’re on the bus, waiting for your girlfriend, or whatever? Well theres an answer out there waiting for you. Its called vNES and vSUN(why not vSNES?) made by the guys over at Vampent.com.
We are proud to announce vNes, the fastest and best NES emulator for mobiles. It is fastest – with nes instructions optimizing, it can be even run smoothly in J2ME(java in mobiles). It is best – it has perfect sound(for symbian, smartphone), perfect speed and most roms.
This is what greets us when we visit their vNES web-page, doesn’t that just excite the sh*t out of you? Well it sure was the case for me, finally i could play my all-time favorite games on my mobile-phone. I currently own an Nokia n73, which is a Symbian 1.7 S60 3rd edition phone. According to their website my phone is supported, and for a complete overview of which mobile-phones are supported check here: Supported Devices. Okay, before you get too riled up theres something you need to know, its not free. By that i mean you can download a demo version and try out as much as you like, but theres a time-limit on how long you can play each game, and you cant save your games either. The good news is though, the emulators aren’t that expensive either! The vNES which I’ll write about(since thats the one i bought) only costs $9,9 which in my opinion isn’t that much considering standalone Java games for mobile phones cost WAY more if you intend to have as many games as you could if you had a NES emulator installed. The vSUN(SNES) emulator costs a bit more though, $19,9. Oh and i almost forgot to mention this sas Im not the biggest Gameboy fan, they also have Gameboy emulators: vBOY(Gameboy classic and color), vBAG(Gameboy advanced) in-which vBOY costs $9,9 and vBAG costs $29,9.

Okay this article will only cover my experience with vNES as thats the only one ive bought(as of now). Lets take a quick peek at what features this emulator has:
- Bluetooth multiplay.
- ZIP format support.
- Thousands of roms supported.
- Customizable controls. Provide automatic key AA/BB, 8 directions key , and TRIGGER KEY that can let shoot key down without press shoot key all the time.
- Perfect sound. At Series 60, you can enjoy 16KHz game sound without losing any speed.
- Multi-language. Currently we are translating into different languages.
- Very small application sis size. You only need save memory for roms.
- Adjustable game speed.
- Each rom with 5 save/load slots.
- Battery save/load.
- Provide save/load key. You can use one touch to save/load states.
- Save game picture as BMP. You can make your own desktop picture with your favorite game.
- Record game sound as WAV. You can make your favorite phone music.
I know what you’re all thinking, and indeed.. WOW. And for only $9.99? This is just awesome! So far I’ve successfully tested Super Mario Bros, and Super Mario Bros 3, the sound is great, and the quality is great. Its just like playing a NES emulator on your computer, or the real thing for that matter. Okay so here’s how i actually got it on my phone. First go to their download page and select which one you want to download, in this case vNES. I first tried the vNES J2ME but for some reason it didn’t work on my phone, it froze and i had to hard reset the phone to be able to close the application, so in the end i went for the vNES Symbian 1.70 S60v3 (Symbian Signed) package. You can send this package via Bluetooth, Infrared, E-Mail or USB cable. I chose via E-Mail as I didn’t have any of the others available at the time. The install was pretty straight forward, and included in the package were two demo’s to showoff the emulator, pretty! Installing ROM’s was as easy as installing the emulator, just send them to the phone and open the file and the emulator installs the ROM.
As I said earlier the demo has a playtime limit and you can’t save the game, so I bought the full version just after trying the demo, basically because i was impressed and loved what i saw. I went to the vNES purchase page where i entered my credentials along with my IMEI(*#06#) code, and after the transaction was complete I had to activate the application, i got a link in the order confirmation to where i had to enter my IMEI code to get the activation code(it took about 10min until the transaction was registered and the activation worked). I then entered the activation code into the application and i could finally enjoy unlimited play time and i could finally save my games!
So in conclusion, if you’re a Nintendo fan, be it NES, SNES or Gameboy, this is indeed a MUST have application for your mobile. Oh before i forget, I’ll most likely get the SNES emulator too later on. If you have any questions, just post them in the comments. Enjoy!

Ive had supermario as backround on my computer for 2weeks now, but still it aint supporting my nokia 5800?!?
Hehe
Have you tried the demo? It might actually work on your phone you know, even if it isnt listed at the website… I don’t know how up-to-date the list is..
“…..I remember when I were younger, sitting in front of the TV eating popcorn, drinking Coca Cola and of course playing video-games…..”
Don’t we still do that? ^_^
Never said I had stopped doing that
You didnt mention your activation code^_^ hehehe… hope that i can copy it and will work on my phone nyahahah…
Sorry it doesn’t work that way, its locked to your mobile-phone’s IMEI code. And plus, anyone can afford spending $10 on something that cool
