Impressed with Samsung Galaxy(i7500)

PCWworld got some hands-on time with the Samsung Galaxy (i7500) phone at the CommunicAsia exhibition in Singapore, and they seemed impressed with what they saw. The new Samsung Galaxy will be one of (if not the) prettiest Android powered phone on the market, featuring a 3.2" AMOLED touchscreen display, and a whopping 5 megapixel camera which also includes a LED flash.

Not only is it pretty and promising, but its also slim. It's actually slimmer than both HTC Magic and the Apple Iphone 3G, measuring at only 11.9 millimeters. It's not clear how long the users can expect the battery to last, especially if the users enjoys using a lot of wireless data or watching video's. But the AMOLED screen draws less power than the TFT-LCD screens used on HTC Magic and Apple Iphone 3G, potentially giving the Galaxy longer battery life given similar usage patterns.

Android phones are getting nicer. The Magic proved that Android handsets don't have to look like a TV remote control from the 1980s. With the Galaxy, Samsung seems set to prove that Android-based smart-phones can be a hit with mainstream users, not just technophiles.

The price for the Samsung Galaxu has not yet been revelaed, but the handset will be made available in Germany and France before the end of June, with plans to launch the handset in other markets from the second half of 2009.
